A pre-strike state was declared in Belarus. Belarusian workers put forward ten demands to the authorities. The leader of the Belarusian Workers' Association Siarhei Dyleuski told Charter97.org about the first reaction of Belarusians to the workers' statement.

- In simple terms, the pre-strike state is the mobilization of workers within all enterprises, as well as mass preparation for a strike if our demands are not met. Also, this state provides for the mobilization of all democratic forces to help all workers on strike.
To summarize, this is the mobilization of an information agenda, financial assistance, planning, and conducting strikes on the territory of Belarusian enterprises.

- Yes, of course, there is. To begin with, while working on the situation with workers in the field, we decided to declare a pre-strike state. We can say that the response to the appeal had a tremendous effect. They write to us a lot, they thank us, there are suggestions, some comments, but there is feedback, and it is positive.
- By what criteria did you choose the requirements for the authorities? They are quite extensive and affect different spheres of life of Belarusians.
- It is their vastness that became the main criterion for choosing demands. They affect most spheres of life in the country. To put it simply, the government has screwed up absolutely everywhere, and, believe me, there are people dissatisfied with this regime in every sphere of life in Belarus.

- The plan of further actions will be announced shortly. People need to familiarize themselves with our requirements. At the same time, we are collecting recommendations of workers from various enterprises.
- Are the Belarusian workers ready to fight for their rights precisely through the strike?
- Most of the Belarusian workers are ready. And the reaction to the appeal once again showed it. Yes, of course, there are doubters, but we have time to convince them.
