Yuri Butusov On Attack In Sevastopol: It's Never Happened Before

An absolutely unprecedented technical task has been accomplished.

The explosion in the bay of occupied Sevastopol on October 29 is now the focus of attention of all militaries in the world, Chief Editor of Censor.net Yuri Butusov is convinced, because such an attack on the navy by overwater drones has never been seen in history before. The Ukrainian journalist told Novoe Vremya about it.

- There is an opinion that the operation that was carried out yesterday in Sevastopol is unique. Do you agree with it?

- Absolutely. From the technical point of view these are absolutely unprecedented events, which now, I believe, are the main topic of discussion for all militaries in the world.

This is the first time there has been a large-scale attack by overwater drones, by unmanned vehicles. The Russian navy was not at all prepared for such a scale. That is, the typical sea-base response and defence assets available to the Russians could not cope with this attack.

- In the video, these drones can be seen hitting Russian ships. One of them is identified as the frigate Admiral Makarov. And what did you see in the videos that appeared online?

- Indeed, one of the ships that the drones are approaching and apparently hitting them is a frigate of the design to which the Admiral Makarov belongs. And at least two landing ships that were also probably hit.

In addition, we know that [the ships] were simultaneously attacked by drones from the air. The most curious part is that apparently all these drones (for air attack and sea drones, overwater drones) were made by Ukrainian specialists; all produced by some people with quite a high level of engineering knowledge.

And, of course, the coordination, the fact that there was a simultaneous strike by drones from the air and from the sea is an absolutely unprecedented technical challenge.
