Minsk Girl Detained For Protests Because Of Tinder Photo

Her friend was arrested at the border crossing point when trying to leave the country.

Law enforcement officers have detained a 29-year-old girl in Minsk for participating in protests. The photos on Tinder, where she stands on the road with a white-red-white flag during one of the protest marches in 2020, became the reason for her arrest. According to Zerkalo, the publication about the detention appeared in one of the unofficial telegram channels of law enforcement agencies.

It is reported that the girl works as a manager of the Trans Solutions logistics company. Law enforcers claim that someone "leaked" her photo from Tinder to the police, but it is impossible to verify this claim.

They made a "repentant" video with the girl, where she confirms her participation in the protests. She was taken to the temporary detention center and a criminal case under Article 342 of the Criminal Code (active participation in group actions that grossly violate public order) was opened against her.

Moreover, the law enforcers' telegram channel stated that after the detention of the Minsk girl, two of her friends, with whom she went to the marches, tried to leave Belarus. One managed to leave for Turkey, but the second 29-year-old girl was detained on the border with Poland. According to the law enforcers, she works as an administrative assistant in an international organisation.
