Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport Sends 40% Of Staff To Forced Vacation

Sanctions against Russia are already causing massive economic losses.

Russia's Sheremetyevo airport in Moscow has sent as many as 7,000 employees (about 40% of its staff) to forced vacation because of the "critical" reduction in passenger traffic amid sanctions against the Russian aviation industry. The airport had earlier announced the suspension of all investment projects, closed one of the runways and already the third terminal since 2020

Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport has sent 40% of its staff to vacation amid sanctions imposed on the Russian aviation industry in response to Russia's war against Ukraine. This is what Izvestia reported, citing a source at the airport and the order of Sheremetyevo CEO Mikhail Vasilenko.

According to the document, the decision was taken for "reasons beyond the control of the employer and employees" and in connection with a "critical decrease in passenger traffic" amid the sanctions to close the airspace of several countries.
