Poland Handed Over 200 T-72 Tanks To Ukraine

This is enough to form two tank brigades.

Poland has supplied more than 200 T-72 tanks to Ukraine, enough to form two brigades. Along with the tanks, several dozens of infantry fighting vehicles were delivered to Ukraine, Polskie Radio has reported.

Poland has been supporting its neighbour in terms of the weapons since the start of the war in Ukraine unleashed by the Russian Federation, Polish Deputy Defence Minister Wojciech Skurkiewicz said: "Referring to the message of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki regarding military aid to the Ukrainian side, it has already exceeded 7 billion zlotys (1.5 billion euros)."

The weapons delivered to Ukraine include 2C1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers and Grad multiple-launch rocket systems. Poland also handed over air-to-air missiles for MiG-29 and Su-27 aircraft.

In addition to heavy equipment, Poland has supplied Ukraine with Polish-made WB Electonics drones, which serve, among other things, for reconnaissance operations. The Ukrainians themselves boast of having Polish Warmate drones, similar to the American Switchblade. The Ukrainians fighting Russia are being supplied with Perun portable anti-aircraft missile systems from the Polish arsenal, which already have, as yet unconfirmed officially, shot down Russian helicopters. Poland is also sending large quantities of ammunition to Ukraine.

The Czech Republic has already transferred T-72 tanks to Ukraine. Poland has almost 400 units of this military hardware. Some of them have been upgraded, mainly in terms of the firepower of these tanks, following the decision of the defence authorities. Poland is primarily handing over to the Ukrainian army the tanks that have not been upgraded.
