Russian 'Rail Partisans' Block Traffic Along Trans-Siberian Railway

19 wagons of a goods train have been derailed in Amur region in Russia.

Nineteen carriages of a goods train derailed in Amur Region on June 29. The Trans-Siberian Railways traffic was halted temporarily as a result of the incident. A group of anti-war activists called 'Stop Railcars' claimed responsibility for the accident.

A major railway accident occurred in Skovorodinsk district of Amur region on June 29: 14 freight cars derailed.

"As a result of the accident, the clearance of the adjacent track was broken and a railroad pole was damaged. Train traffic on the section was temporarily suspended. There were no casualties and no threat to the environment," Russian Railways said.

As RIA Novosti wrote, they had to shut down traffic along the Trans-Siberian Railway because of the accident and the Moscow-Vladivostok train was delayed.

Local passenger traffic was also affected. About 330 employees of the railway and lots of machinery from neighbouring stations were involved in the liquidation of the consequences. The traffic was fully restored on the following day.

According to the Trans-Baikal Railway, the reasons for the accident are currently being investigated.

Meanwhile, the Stop Wagons anti-war group of activists has claimed responsibility for the incident.

"We are not idiots, of course, and we understand that this stop is temporary," they wrote on their Telegram channel. "But it is very significant. Significant, because it demonstrates the power of the railway resistance."

The activists say there are more and more of them and their main goal is to stop the war:

"It has taken the Russian underground a long time to bestir themselves, it's true. But we must, we just obliged to stop the war unleashed by Putin's gang. Because words 'we are against the war' mean absolutely nothing if not backed up by action.
