The surprised reaction of the Russian delegation was shown on video.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, during his visit to Kazakhstan on November 9, once again failed to pronounce the name of President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev correctly. Addressing the Kazakh leader, the head of the Kremlin paused at first, but it did not help him — instead of Kassym-Zhomart Kemelevich, Putin blurted out “Kamil Zhomartovich”.
For his part, Tokaev spoke in Kazakh, which confused the Russian delegation.
The media published the video of Putin's embarrassment. Journalists note that the Russian dictator failed to pronounce Tokayev's name at a public event for at least the fourth time.
During the current meeting, thanking Tokayev for the invitation to Kazakhstan, Putin paused for about two seconds, but still distorted Tokayev's name. Then he made another pause and pronounced the name and patronymic of the interlocutor without mistakes.
Tokaev, in turn, did not remain in debt. During the meeting, he unexpectedly spoke in his native Kazakh language addressing the Russian delegation. The reaction of the Russians was captured by journalists' cameras.
In addition, another curious thing happened during Putin's speech. For a moment, his microphone got turned off, but he tried to smooth the situation with a joke.
Important to note, Putin mispronounced Tokayev's name more than once. In January 2022, he called him “Kemel Zhomartovich Tokayev”, and in June of the same year he pronounced the name of his colleague so quickly that it was impossible to decipher it. In August 2022, he called Tokayev “Kasym Zhomartovich Kemelevich”.
