Ukrainian Defence Ministry Confirms Naval Drone Shot Up Russian Ship Near Bosphorus

It has become known what kind of damage the Ivan Khurs sustained.

The Ukrainian Defence Ministry has confirmed that the Russian warship Ivan Khurs was attacked by a Ukrainian surface drone.

The defence ministry posted on Twitter a video of the attack on the Russian ship, which had previously been shown by the media.

"When the Russian intelligence ship Ivan Khurs met a Ukrainian drone. A perfect match indeed!" the report reads.

Earlier, Russian so-called "war correspondents" said that the Russian Black Sea Fleet ship Ivan Khurs was attacked by unidentified "naval drones" around 05:30 am on May 24, 74 kilometres north of the Bosphorus.

The Russian Defence Ministry confirmed the attack, saying the drones were allegedly "destroyed" 140km northeast of the Bosphorus Strait, where the ship was allegedly "guarding" the Turkish Stream and Blue Stream gas pipelines (in Turkey's economic zone).

According to the Ukrainian media, the Ivan Khurs was damaged as a result of the attack by naval drones. Also, according to journalists, there are casualties as a result of the attack.

"There is significant damage to the hull and equipment. Now the Russians are hastily repairing it," the journalists' source said.
