The President of Poland named the method.
Ukraine will not be able to become a NATO member during the war, but must receive an invitation to the Alliance and begin the accession process.
This was stated by Polish President Andrzej Duda, Polskie Radio reports.
“Ukraine should receive an invitation to NATO, which would begin this process. This is also extremely important for the morale of the defenders of Ukraine,” he said during a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Davos.
According to him, during a war, accession is impossible, but the invitation will launch the process of discussing the issue in the parliaments of NATO member countries.
Poland, like other Western countries, called for further support for Ukraine. The Polish President said that this is a key security issue in Europe. “If Russia wins this war, it will continue its aggressive policy, and if it continues its aggressive policy, then it is almost obvious that it will attack again and will have another war as a consequence of Russian aggression.”
Duda also assured Zelensky on the eve of Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s visit to Kyiv that Ukraine can rest assured of Poland’s support.
