What is known about this weapon?

The Russian Armed Forces have lost an APC-50, which was produced back in the 50s of the last century, near Avdiivka in Donetsk region. This is what the "Military Courier" writes.

The rare APC-50 was registered in the Avdiivka direction. It was hit during one of the unsuccessful assaults of the Russian occupation army. The armoured vehicle was left in the open air by the occupants.

About a year ago, because of the huge losses of the vehicles, the Russians started to decommission and modernise these obsolete models. There may be up to 1,000 of them in Russia now. Currently, this is the second such armoured personnel carrier that the Ukrainian Defence Forces destroyed.

APC-50: Characteristics

The APC-50 armoured personnel carrier is designed to transport personnel (paratroopers) of motorized rifle units or military cargo in conditions of possible enemy fire. It is a light armoured tracked combat vehicle.

The armour of the APC-50 can protect a two-man crew from small debris and 7.62-mm ammunition. The vehicle can carry up to 20 paratroopers and cargo weighing up to 2 tonnes.

Most often, the Russians install ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft guns on the decommissioned armoured personnel carriers.
