Verdict Against Leanid Sudalenka In absentia

The human rights activist was tried for “promoting extremist activities”.

The Homel regional “court” brought verdict against human rights activist Leanid Sudalenka in absentia and sentenced him to five years in prison, writes the Viasna Human Rights Center.

At the beginning of March 2024, it became known that the Investigative Committee began a special procedure against the human rights activist. He was accused under Parts 1 and 2 of Art. 361−4 of the Criminal Code (“Promotion of extremist activities”).

The “court” found Sudalenka “guilty” and sentenced him to five years in prison in a maximum security colony, and also fined him 650 basic units (26,000 rubles).
