Bild: Russia Sent Reconnaissance Ship To Shores Of Germany

This is the vessel “Vasily Tatishchev”.

Russia sent the reconnaissance ship “Vasily Tatishchev” to the shores of Germany. It was built in the 1980s. There are only two such reconnaissance ships in the Russian Baltic Fleet, writes Bild.

It is noted that the ship, which left Kaliningrad and sailed along the northern coast of Germany, is now in the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea between Kiel and the island of Fehmarn. It was accompanied by a patrol boat of the Danish Navy and a German police ship. However, they did not interfere, since the ship did not enter the territorial waters of these countries.

As German media write, “Vasily Tatishchev” was observing the annual NATO BALTOPS exercises.

“It is unclear why the ship stopped between Kiel and Fehmarn. According to some reports, Russia has technologies that allow it to listen in on phone signals and interfere with communications and GPS navigation,” Bild writes.

Northern Germany has previously experienced problems with shipping due to navigation failures. The German Defense Ministry stated that the failures are most likely of Russian origin and are based on interference in the electromagnetic spectrum, which is formed, among other things, in the Kaliningrad region.
