Zelensky’s Office Rejected Trump's Advisers' Plan

Freezing the war in this way would be “strange”.

Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Ukrainian President's Office, rejected the proposal by former US President Donald Trump's advisers to freeze the Ukrainian conflict along the front line. Podolyak noted that freezing the war in this way would be “strange”, since Russia violated international law and its army is on Ukrainian territory.

“Ukraine has an absolutely clear understanding, and it is spelled out in the peace formula proposed by President Zelensky. It is clearly spelled out there — peace can only be fair and peace can only be based on international law,” he said in an interview with Reuters.

Podolyak added that the war cannot end without holding Russia accountable. He also called the ceasefire conditions proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin absurd. “We see Putin's plan — it is absolutely ridiculous,” the adviser to the head of the Ukrainian President's Office emphasized.

Earlier it became known that former US President Donald Trump, if he wins the upcoming presidential election, may demand that Kyiv begin peace talks with Moscow under the threat of stopping the supply of American weapons. This is envisaged by a plan to resolve the military conflict in Ukraine, which was developed by two key Trump advisers — the Chiefs of Staff on the National Security Council during his presidency (2017-2021), retired Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg and Fred Fleitz. At the same time, the initiative assumes that Washington will threaten Moscow with increased support for Kyiv in the event of any refusal to negotiate. The plan provides for freezing the conflict along the “existing front line”.
