Lukashenka's Opinion Asked During Prisoner Exchange?

A Ukrainian political scientist believes that Moscow returned the ones it needed.

On June 28, ten more Ukrainian citizens were released, five of whom were held in Belarusian prisons.

"Ukraine believes that all of them are civilians, who were in enemy captivity. Therefore, they should all be released," Ukrainian political analyst Yevhen Magda commented on the exchange to Radio Svaboda. "The release of Ukrainian civilians has been and remains a priority for the Ukrainian authorities.

Not all Ukrainian media reported that five of our citizens were in Belarusian prisons. They are all considered as released from Russian captivity".

Ukrainian political analyst believes that the release of Ukrainian citizens, who are Belarusian political prisoners, became possible due to the fact that Belarusians, fighting on the Russian side, were in Ukrainian captivity.

We remind you that three of our compatriots have already been exchanged for Ukrainians, taken prisoner by the Russians.

"Just last week, the third citizen of Belarus, who was fighting in Ukraine on the side of Russia and was captured, was released. All of them were handed over to Russia in the order of exchange.

I think that this opened the way for releasing Ukrainian citizens from Belarusian prisons.

I believe that Ukraine should first of all release two categories of Belarusians, who directly participated in the Russian-Ukrainian war.

These are two Kalinouski regiment fighters - Siarhei "Kleshch" Dziohtseu and Jan "Trombly" Dziurbeika - who have been in Russian captivity for two years, and "rail partisans," who blew up the Belarusian railway, damaged relay cabinets and thus slowed down the traffic of Russian military echelons".

Magda noted that the terms of the exchange had not been announced.

"Ukraine has not disclosed information about for whom exactly the Ukrainians from Belarusian prisons were exchanged. But I believe that they were exchanged for quite important and valuable persons for Russia. Not for Lukashenka, but for Russia," the Ukrainian expert stressed.
