NYT: US Considering Three Options For Action On Venezuela

Are Maduro's days numbered?

The US administration is considering three possible options of military measures against Venezuela, including airstrikes and operations of special units. This is reported by New York Times with reference to its sources.

According to the newspaper, the first scenario involves airstrikes on military facilities in order to deprive the dictator Nicolas Maduro of military support. The second scenario involves sending special operations forces to capture or eliminate Maduro.

"The third scenario involves a much more complex plan to send U.S. counterterrorism forces to seize control of airfields and at least part of Venezuela's oil fields and infrastructure," the newspaper wrote.

The Washington Post reported on Nov. 1 that the U.S. has sent warships, submarines and thousands of military personnel to Venezuela's shores. Washington's military buildup in the Caribbean indicates that the US administration is preparing to expand operations in the region, the paper said.
