The Nobel laureate gave an interview at Vilnius airport.
Human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Ales Bialiatski, released from prison, met with his wife Natalya Pinchuk in Vilnius. Video of the meeting was published by Radio Svaboda.
Natalia Pinchuk flew to Vilnius from Oslo and was able to see her husband for the first time in three years. The meeting took place at Vilnius airport.
Ales Bialiatski told journalists that while he was being taken to Lithuania he was able to communicate with his wife by phone, which was given to him by American diplomats.
Natalya Pinchuk says that she also learned about her husband's release from diplomats. When asked about her current plans for life, the woman replied as follows:
"So far, none. I'm used to living one day at a time, so this habit probably won't go away soon. There will be a day, there will be a life, we'll see."
Ales Bialiatski said that he and his wife had no contact for months during his imprisonment. In 2025, he received only one letter from her, while Natalia did not receive any.
"In my case, the walls of the prison turned out to be "glass" - there were always people, not often, but once every few months, whom I trusted, who contacted my wife and told her how I was doing," said Ales.
Belyatsky expressed hope that the release of political prisoners will continue.

Reminder that yesterday Lukashenko released 123 political prisoners.
The released include Nobel Peace Prize laureate Ales Bialiatski, opposition politician Pavel Seviarynets, human rights activist Vladimir Lobkovich and a number of other prisoners of conscience.
The majority of those pardoned were forcibly taken to the territory of Ukraine.
