The U.S. president was once again upset that the award wasn't given to him.
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that “no one had ever heard of” Nobel Peace Prize laureate Navanethem “Navi” Pillay, and that she had done nothing to deserve the prize, unlike him. Trump wrote about this on the social media platform Truth Social.
“It was this very woman who received the Nobel Peace Prize instead of the great country—the United States of America—which I represent and which has resolved eight wars, as well as accomplished much more. I know nothing about this woman, nor does anyone else! In fact, as far as I know, no one has ever heard of her, except for the fact that she quite obviously hates Israel. “I don’t know what this woman has done,” Trump said.
He noted that letters had been sent to the Norwegian Nobel Committee “from every president and prime minister of the countries” he had helped.
“And right now, I’m close to resolving or winning two more conflicts—with Iran and between Russia and Ukraine. Both processes are moving at breakneck speed, but forget about them: we’re talking about the eight wars I’ve already resolved. Any one of these conflicts, especially the one between Pakistan and India, would in and of itself have been more than enough reason to award me the Nobel Peace Prize. “In fact, I should have received eight Nobel Peace Prizes, not just one,” the American leader stated.
Trump added that the Nobel Peace Prize has been “forever discredited.”
The day before, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the renowned South African lawyer, judge, and human rights activist Navanethem Navi Pillay. She has gained international recognition for her long-standing fight for human rights.
A few hours after Pillay received the Nobel Peace Prize, the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump imposed sanctions on October 9 against the International Criminal Court (ICC), where she once worked.
