Macron Called An Emergency Meeting In Response To Student Protests
Emmanuel Macron

The protests began on September 21.

French President Emmanuel Macron has called an emergency meeting with several ministers to discuss the student protests. This was reported by BFMTV reports, citing sources close to the head of state.

The meeting will take place on the evening of October 6. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, Interior Minister Laurent Nunez, and Minister of National Education Édouard Geoffroy will participate.

The first protests began on September 21 at the Lycée Saint-Exupéry in Créteil, a suburb of Paris. They later spread across the country and escalated into riots. Protesters threw fireworks at police officers, set fires, and engaged in vandalism. High school students are dissatisfied with overcrowded classrooms, a shortage of teachers, the poor condition of schools, and overly packed schedules.
