The Kremlin Has Given A "signal" About Plans For The Baltic States

ISW explained what Russia is preparing for.

Russian authorities have stepped up accusations against the Baltic States and NATO, claiming "militarization" of the region and preparations for a blockade of Kaliningrad. Such statements are part of a long-term information campaign by the Kremlin aimed at justifying potential aggression.

Moscow is paying special attention to Lithuania, which it calls a source of "tension" near its borders. This is reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

The Russian Security Council on April 23 accused Lithuanian authorities of creating a "hotbed of tension" near the Kaliningrad region. Allegedly, Vilnius is building up its military presence under the guise of a threat from Russia.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said that NATO exercises within the framework of the Joint Expeditionary Force include scenarios of a naval blockade and seizure of Kaliningrad. He also accused the Alliance of deliberately "escalating the confrontation."

Similar statements by the Russian Federation are an element of cognitive warfare. Their goal is to create a perception of NATO as an aggressor among domestic and international audiences. In such a context, attention from Russia's actions in Ukraine dissipates. And the ground for possible future military scenarios appears.

We would like to remind you that the Kremlin's disinformation machine is on the verge of running out of original ideas. An aggressive campaign to promote the narrative about the so-called "Klaipeda People's Republic" (KPRC) has been launched in the digital space.
