Andrius Kubilius: Europe Needs A New Defense Union

Involving Ukraine.

European Commissioner for Defense Andrius Kubilius has said that Ukraine's membership in NATO is currently impossible. Therefore, a more effective solution would be the creation of a European Defense Union, Suspilne reports.

"NATO membership is not yet available for Ukraine. Full-fledged membership in the European Union is a complex process, which cannot guarantee a quick integration of defense capabilities.

That is why the most effective tool may be the search for a new instrument that would focus on the integration of all European defense capabilities," the European Commissioner said.

According to Kubilius, a European Defense Union is needed, which would allow integrating the defense capabilities of Ukraine, Great Britain, Norway with the defense capabilities of the European Union member states.
