The meeting will be held today.
US President Donald Trump plans to meet with senior security officials on April 27, CNN reported, citing two sources.
According to the channel, the meeting was called against the backdrop of the US side's "stalemate" in talks with Iran.
A second round of US-Iran talks was scheduled to be held in Islamabad on April 22, but Tehran did not send a delegation, citing the futility of the meeting.
Trump also canceled a trip by special envoy Steve Whitkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner to Islamabad. The American leader said the US would no longer send a delegation to Pakistan for talks with the Iranian side. "If they want to talk, they can come to us or they can call us," the Republican said.
The United States and Iran signed a two-week truce on April 8, but Trump extended it, which the Republican said was requested by Pakistani authorities who mediate between Washington and Tehran. The United States, however, maintained the naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which was declared after the failed first round of US-Iran talks on April 11.
Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian said the US must remove all obstacles, including lifting the blockade on Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz, for the resumption of dialog between the countries. He noted that Tehran would not enter negotiations "imposed under pressure, threats or blockade."
