Mark Rutte: NATO Countries Need To Increase Military Spending
Mark Rutte

This will become the main task of the block.

NATO countries need to increase investments in the defense-industrial complex (DIC) against the background of new security threats in the European region. Alliance Secretary General Mark Rutte made such a call, Reuters reports.

The current level of military investment is not high enough, the bloc's secretary general said. The volume of production in the military sphere leaves much to be desired in both the United States and European Union (EU) countries, he noted.

"This is a common problem," Rutte stated.

All alliance countries without exception should expand production in the defense sphere in the foreseeable future, he added. This will be one of NATO's main tasks in the medium term, Rutte summarized.
