Icons Of Political Prisoner's Priest Could Not Be Sold At Auction

The icon of the XVIII century the state wants to take it for itself.

The icons belonging to the former political prisoner, priest Henrych Okolotovich, could not be sold at auction.

The two auctions, scheduled for May 14, actually broke down, noted "Khrystsiyanskaya viziya". On the cheaper icon "St. Julian, Bishop of Kenomani" (XIX - early XX century) for 700 rubles registered only one participant. Because of this the auction was not held.

To buy the second icon "The Rise of Christ from the tomb" of the XVIII century for 4000 rubles there were no willing participants at all. And it is about this lot appeared an important message: the claimant is offered to leave the arrested property to himself in repayment of the "debt" on the enforcement proceedings. In other words: if the icon could not be sold, it may not be returned to the owner, but transferred to the state - it is it that acts as the collector in the case of fines under the sentence.

This means that the ancient icon can simply become the property of the state - without any auctions.

The authorities had earlier confiscated other property of the priest-political prisoner. His car has already been sold.
