Will Ukraine Create A "kill Zone" In Iran?

The Gulf is debating the idea.

Co-founder of Fire Point Denis Shtilerman told Financial Times that drones could be used to create a "kill zone" in Iran, similar to the one created by the Ukrainian military on the frontline against aggressor country Russia. The publication came out on May 14.

He says Ukraine is capable of organizing a "kill zone" up to 200 km deep inside Iran's territory and along the coast by deploying attack drones on duty in the air. Similar tactics, he argues, could be used against Russian oil tankers in the Baltic and Black Seas - with the consent of Western partners.

Stilerman noted that the Persian Gulf countries are interested in the concept, but are awaiting U.S. approval. Washington has not yet officially reacted to the initiative.

Fire Point has been actively ramping up production since the aggressor country Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the publication noted. The company produces long-range drones and cruise missiles used to strike targets deep inside Russian territory, including oil infrastructure. According to the company, about a third of Ukrainian strikes against targets in Russia are carried out with Fire Point drones.

The company also said it put two satellites into orbit in 2026 and plans to launch dozens more in 2027 to reduce Ukraine's dependence on U.S. technology and satellite systems.
