A Russian Drone Invaded Romanian Airspace

Details of the incident became known.

A Russian drone briefly entered Romanian airspace on Saturday night amid new Russian attacks in Ukraine near the border.

The Romanian Ministry of National Defense said this, Digi24 https://www.digi24.ro/.

"In the early hours of Saturday, May 2, the Russian Federation resumed attacks on civilian targets and infrastructure in Ukraine, near the river border with Romania. A group of twenty Russian Federation drones were detected by the radars of the Ministry of National Defense moving towards the area of Izmail (Ukraine)," the Ministry of National Defense said on Saturday.

At around 02:00, two F-16 fighter jets of the Air Police Combat Service took off from the 86th Air Base in Fetesti.

The National Military Command Center informed the General Directorate for Emergency Situations about the introduction of public alert measures in the northern part of Tulcea County, sending a RO-Alert message at 02:03.

"Ground-based radars recorded a brief intrusion of a drone into the country's airspace near Kilia, which continued its movement towards Izmail," the Defense Ministry said.

Numerous explosions were reported on the Ukrainian bank of the Danube. The air alert was canceled at 02:50. "The Defense Ministry informs allied structures in real time about the situations resulting from the attacks, being in constant contact with them," the ministry stresses.

It is known that during the years of full-scale war, Russian drones of the Shahed type have repeatedly fallen on the Romanian bank of the Danube or violated the country's airspace.

After the first such cases, an air alert began to be declared for the border areas over the Danube, and later the air force was also raised as a routine procedure.

In one case, a UAV similar to the Gerbera flew dozens of kilometers inland from Romania and crashed behind a private house.
