NATO planes have taken to the skies.

An air alert has been declared in Ignalina, Utena, Švenčiai and Zarasai districts, as well as in Vilnius county and the capital of Lithuania due to a suspected drone spotted on the territory of Belarus near the Lithuanian border.

The Lithuanian army said that the reason for the alert was a radar mark recorded near the border and having signs characteristic of an unmanned aerial vehicle. In response, fighter jets carrying out the NATO air policing mission were raised from the Lithuanian side.

Residents of the mentioned areas received emergency notices about a possible air threat. They were advised to identify a safe place in advance and be ready to take shelter if necessary.
