AFU Foils Russian Plans On Zaporizhzhya Direction

The tactics of Ukrainian heroes are yielding significant results on the frontline.

Despite the Kremlin's loud statements, the situation on the front is not going well for the Russian army. Thanks to active defense tactics and effective counterattacks, the Ukrainian Defense Forces managed not only to regain a number of important tactical positions, but also to foil the enemy's plans to put artillery pressure on Zaporizhzhya.

The clearing of Stepnogorsk and successful actions in the area of Primorskoye forced the occupants to retreat and redeploy forces to other directions. The speaker of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army (UVA) Sergei Bratchuk told about it today, May 23, on air of the TV channel FREEDOM.

-Doings on the front at the Russians are not the best at the moment, despite the Kremlin's statements. The Russians are suffering defeats, particularly at some locations on the Zaporizhzhya front. We cannot yet say that Ukraine is conducting counter-offensive or offensive actions, but the active defense demonstrated by the Ukrainian Defense Forces is bringing results.

In particular, I remember the Zaporizhzhya front, because, for example, our fighters knocked the enemy out of Stepnogorsk (Zaporizhzhya region), cleaned it up. And today, the heights where the enemy was planning to come out to put pressure with artillery fire directly on the regional center of Zaporizhzhya [are inaccessible]. We are also talking about the Primorskoye location, which is near Stepnogorsk. There, the counterattack actions of the AFU are the main tool that allows us to both beat the enemy and liberate our territories," he noted.

In the area of Primorskoye, active actions by the Ukrainian Defense Forces are also recorded, which led to the defeat of Russian troops. The situation for the occupants in this area is extremely bad, because of which they are forced to withdraw some units from here and transfer them to the Gulyaipol direction of the front.

- There are locations where we managed to regain our tactical positions, respectively, they do not allow the Russians to create the maximum conditions, for example, to continue a more active offensive on the Donetsk front, on the Zaporizhzhya front. Such counterattack actions are also observed in the Sumy region. If we are talking about the South Slobozhansky direction, respectively, we see that the active defense demonstrated by the AFU is an effective tool, - said Sergey Bratchuk.

The expert also emphasized that we should not forget about the small air - means of tactical aviation and drones.

- Our drones plus our mid-strike. Look how active we are today in the temporarily occupied territories, if we talk about Kherson, Zaporizhzhya and Donetsk regions. And, of course, this is something that directly affects the course of hostilities and allows Ukraine to liberate territory. Probably for the first time, after 2023, there is a situation when Ukraine has liberated more territories in terms of area than the Russians were able to seize," Serhiy Bratchuk summarized.
