Ukraine's chief negotiator Rustem Umerov has arrived in Berlin for talks with representatives of Germany, France and the UK, Politico reports.

According to the publication, Umerov will meet on Tuesday with national security advisers of the EU group of countries - Germany, France and the UK.

The talks are being held in a confidential format. A spokesman for German Chancellor Friedrich Merz declined to comment on the meeting, citing its closed nature.

The Ukrainian embassy in Berlin also provided no comment.

The day before Umerov was in Brussels, where he held talks with representatives of the European Commission on defense cooperation, and flew to Germany on Tuesday morning.

Politico noted that the talks were taking place at a critical moment after Russia's massive attack on Kiev and Moscow's new statements about "consistent and systematic strikes" on the Ukrainian capital.

Umerov's press secretary Diana Davitian confirmed to reporters that the minister was working in Berlin.
