Illegal Migrants Have Been Trying To Get From Belarus To Latvia For More Than 40 Days In A Row

Illegal migrants have been trying to get from Belarus to Latvia for 41 days in a row, according to "Pozirkam" analysis of the array of operational data of the State Border Guard of this country.
From March 25 to May 4, 2,097 attempts of illegal border crossing were recorded (an average of 51 per day).
Since the beginning of May, 216 attempts have been recorded. This is 63.6% more than for four days in April (132), but 2.3 times less than for May 1-4 last year (487).
Since the beginning of the year, 2,238 such attempts have been recorded, which is 71.8% of all attempts of migrants from third countries to get to the European Union through Belarus by land, bypassing checkpoints. A year earlier, 2,478 attempts were recorded during this period (10.7% more; the share - 26.1%).
Poland has not observed migrant activity at its border with Belarus for 18 days (since April 17), Lithuania - for two days (May 3 and 4).
