A Russian Was Detained In Minsk While Trying To Fly To Yerevan

In Armenia, he planned to obtain a French humanitarian visa.

Russian citizen Ivan Lyubshin was detained in Minsk before his flight to Yerevan. In Armenia, he was planning to get a humanitarian visa for France, all the issues with the French embassy had already been resolved, writes "OVD-Info."

According to human rights activists, two hours before the flight, the man was detained by Belarusian border guards, they handed him over to the police, then he was taken to the KGB, and from there he was taken to Russia. There he was criminally prosecuted for violation of supervision. In 2025, Ivan Lyubshin was released from the colony and for another eight years had to regularly check in with the police.

In 2020, Lyubshin was sentenced to 5 years and 2 months in a colony on the charge of "justifying terrorism." He was convicted because of a comment in which he called 17-year-old Mikhail Zhlobitsky, who set off an explosion at the FSB headquarters in the Arkhangelsk region, a "hero of the week at least."
