Romania's Pro-European Government Has Resigned

Parliament supported a vote of no confidence in the government of Ilie Bolojan.

Romania's parliament has backed a vote of no confidence in the government of Ilie Bolojan, from which seven members of the Social Democratic Party earlier resigned, writes European Truth.

The joint plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, at which the vote of no confidence initiated by the Social Democrats and the far-right was discussed and put to a vote, began at 11:00.

The vote ended at 2:00 p.m., and a short time later parliamentarians returned to the hall to hear the results of the vote. The vote of no confidence was supported by 281 MPs, 4 were against, and 3 ballots were canceled.

To pass a vote of no confidence, 233 votes were sufficient. It is noted that the constitutional requirement for a majority vote to pass the resolution was met, making this vote of no confidence passed with the largest number of votes in the history of the Parliament.

It is noted that Elie Bolojan has already left the Parliament and returned to the government building.
