Ukraine is winning the technology race on the home front.
Ukrainian P1-SUN interceptor drones for the first time destroyed Russian Gerbers that carried FPV drones, a new modification that allows to deliver strike drones deep inside the country.
It was reported by "Militar".
Five drones in a day
Two units were involved in the task:
the Raven crew of the 58th Independent Motorized Infantry Brigade;
the Box crew of the 302nd Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment.
They detected and destroyed five Russian drones in one day. Video of the interceptors' operation shows the Gerbers with their distinctive X-shaped frame and FPV units mounted on top.
The technology and defense company SkyFall shared a video of the interceptors' combat operations.
What is P1-SUN
P1-SUN is a Ukrainian interceptor drone from SkyFall designed to destroy "Shahed" and other drones.
His characteristics:
Speed - up to 310 km/h
operating altitude - up to 9000 meters
radius of action - up to 33 km from the launch site
Some modifications of the P1-SUN are equipped with thermal imaging cameras and automated guidance system, which allows the operator to more accurately follow and shoot down targets.
What the Gerbera is and why its role has changed
The Gerbers used to be mostly cheap trap drones: they were launched en masse to overwhelm Ukraine's air defense system or to conduct reconnaissance.
But in early 2026, Sergei Beskrestnov, an adviser to Ukraine's defense minister with the call sign "Flash," announced a new modification - the Gerbera is now used as an aerial carrier for FPV drones.
Factually, this is a way to deliver FPV systems to a greater distance and hit a target where they were previously lacking.
