He was apprehended in the Atlantic Ocean.
The French Navy in the Atlantic Ocean intercepted a new tanker under international sanctions, which arrived from Russia - "Tagore". This was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron.
"This operation was carried out in the Atlantic Ocean, in international waters, with the support of several partners, including the United Kingdom, in strict compliance with the international law of the sea. It is unacceptable that the vessels circumvented international sanctions, violated the law of the sea and financed the war that Russia has been waging against Ukraine for more than four years," Macron said.
The French president added that the vessels also posed a threat to the environment and the safety of all people.
La Marine nationale a arraisonné hier matin un nouveau pétrolier sous sanctions internationales en provenance de Russie : le Tagor. Notre détermination est constante et totale.
