U.S. President Donald Trump is not as eager to strike a deal with Iran as he was a few weeks ago. Trump made this statement in an interview with FOX News.
“Right now, I’m less interested in making a deal than I was three or four weeks ago,” he said. The president added that the U.S. could even intensify its attacks on Iran. However, he expressed doubt that the American public would support such a scenario, citing the wars in Iraq and Vietnam as examples.
Following the exchange of strikes between Israel and Iran on June 7, Trump called on Tehran to return to the negotiating table. Later, he said that the U.S. and Iran are in active negotiations and could reach a deal as early as the next two weeks. On the night of June 10, the U.S. struck two reservoirs in the Iranian city of Sirik. 20,000 Iranians were left without water. According to Donald Trump, on the evening of June 11, the U.S. military may again launch a series of powerful strikes on Iranian territory.
