An Abandoned Property Near Minsk Was Sold For Half A Million Dollars

There was fierce bidding for this property at the auction.

A buyer has finally been found near Minsk for the former “Kirovets” pioneer camp, which had failed to change hands on two previous occasions. In October 2025, the property was sold for 2.9 million rubles, and in December for 2.6 million rubles, but both winning bidders subsequently backed out of the deal.

The next auction took place on June 12 and once again attracted significant interest. According to Realt citing the "BUTB-Imushchestvo" platform, 11 participants competed for the camp.

"Kirovets" is located near the village of Zelenoye in the Zhdanovichsky Rural Council—approximately 10 kilometers from the Minsk Ring Road and 2 kilometers from the beaches of the Minsk Sea. The camp was built in the 1960s and belonged to the Kirov Minsk Machine-Tool Plant. After its closure in the early 2000s, the site gradually fell into disrepair.

The nearly 7-hectare site contains more than ten buildings, including residential buildings, a medical clinic, a bathhouse, and a library.

The starting price for the property at the latest auction was 44,000 rubles. During the auction, participants placed 618 bids, causing the price to rise nearly 32-fold. The winner was a trading company from the Minsk region, which purchased the camp for 1.4 million rubles, or about $505,000.

Under the terms of the sale, the new owner must, within two years, complete the necessary paperwork and determine the future of the existing buildings—whether to renovate or demolish them. The use of new facilities on the territory of the former camp must begin no later than four years from now.
