The President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 summit.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France, during which they discussed sanctions against Russia.
Zelenskyy reported this on Telegram.
The president thanked the UK for its new measures to support Ukraine and for the sanctions against Russia’s “shadow fleet,” announced on Tuesday.
Zelenskyy briefed Starmer on the consequences of recent Russian strikes on Ukraine. The leaders also discussed the UK’s potential involvement in the restoration of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which was damaged as a result of a Russian attack on the night of June 15.
In addition, they discussed the implementation of agreements reached during the G7-Ukraine meeting, potential avenues for further pressure on Russia, and steps to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense.
On Tuesday, Canada also announced new sanctions against Russia.
