Belarus Has Invented Another Restriction For Real Estate Owners

The innovation is stipulated by amendments to the Water Code.

As planned, Belarus introduces a limit on the number of ponds and other water bodies, which the population can build on their land plots. The limit is no more than one such object. The novelty is provided by amendments to the Water Code, reports "Mirror".

The Water Code stipulates that "within the boundaries of land plots granted to individuals (except for individual entrepreneurs), it is allowed to build one digging pond".

The construction of other surface water bodies is prohibited.

"Dig ponds shall be erected at a distance of at least three meters from the shoreline, determined as of the summer period, to the borders of the adjacent land plot and may occupy no more than 5% of the entire territory of the land plot," the Water Code stated.

The changes will come into effect on January 1, 2027.
