It has been reported how the border guards reacted.

A married couple accidentally crossed the Lithuanian-Belarusian border while fishing at Purvenai Pond in the Šalčininkai District, reported by the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service (SOGG).

The incident occurred on the morning of August 7. The border surveillance system detected two people crossing the Lithuanian-Belarusian border by boat. After traveling about 10 meters into Belarusian territory, the boat soon turned around and returned to Lithuania.

The State Border Guard Service emphasized that the state border on Purvenai Pond is marked by clearly visible buoys.

The violators were a 48-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man. The couple explained to the border guards that they had crossed the border accidentally. They were each fined 35 euros.
