Cars Are Stalling En Masse in Russia Due to Poor-Quality Gasoline—Russians Are Threatening to Sue Russians are increasingly complaining about breakdowns in their personal vehicles caused by filling up with poor-quality gasoline, reports Dialog.UA.

The fuel shortage in Russia, which continues amid Ukrainian attacks on Russian fuel infrastructure, has forced the government of the aggressor country to authorize the release of Euro-2-grade gasoline. Meanwhile, Russians are increasingly complaining about breakdowns in their cars, attributing them to filling up with low-quality fuel.

Recently, there have been a large number of comments on this topic on social media; some people are even recording videos describing the issues.

For example, in one such video from August 13, a young woman explains that her car drove 15 km after refueling at a Lukoil gas station and suddenly stalled.

“Today is August 13. We filled up with diesel at a Lukoil gas station (on the highway—ed.) on the M5, not far from Kyzyl-Yar. A full tank. I literally drove 15 kilometers, and the car stopped. It won’t start; we called a tow truck,” the video’s author said.

She added that she plans to have the car undergo a full diagnostic check and then file a lawsuit if substandard fuel is determined to be the cause of the breakdown. She hopes her case will set a precedent and that other Russians will also begin taking their cases to court.

“We’ll set a precedent and have the car inspected. If the problem is with the fuel, then we’ll take legal action,” she said.
