Escalation is part of Russia's strategy.
Belarus continues to deploy personnel and equipment to the Ukrainian border and is forming a new airborne assault brigade near the border. Russia is using Belarus’s territory and military infrastructure to exert constant psychological, informational, and military pressure on Ukraine and NATO countries; however, there are currently no signs of strike groups being formed for a ground invasion. This was reported on the television channel FREEDOM by military and political analyst Dmitry Snegirev.
According to him, the escalation along the entire Ukrainian-Belarusian border is part of Russia’s strategy. Moscow is employing a “thousand cuts” tactic, diverting the attention of the Ukrainian General Staff to secondary fronts.
“The Ukrainian-Belarusian border is already, in effect, a front line. It stretches for a thousand kilometers. The Russians plan to create a zone of instability in order to divert operational reserves,” Snegirev explained.
The main thrust of the Russian offensive is currently concentrated in the Donetsk region. Moscow is seeking to create conditions under which the Ukrainian army will be forced to fight on two fronts simultaneously.
“However, according to Ukrainian intelligence, no movements of Russian troops have been recorded on Belarusian territory—only a limited contingent remains there, with no signs of a large-scale redeployment. Their total strength is approximately 2,000. These are mainly technical personnel at Russian military facilities in the Republic of Belarus, primarily at three military airfields,” the spokesperson noted.
In addition, Ukrainian intelligence reports that no field ammunition depots or field hospitals have been deployed on Belarusian territory. This indicates the first signs of the formation of a potential invasion force.
