The latest data from the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) has been released.
Russia shows no willingness to declare a ceasefire and begin normal negotiations with Ukraine. According to the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), Moscow does not plan to conclude any agreements or a peace treaty before the end of 2026.
This was reported by Major General Vadym Skibitsky, deputy head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
According to him, the Kremlin is continuing its offensive operations and expects to achieve its stated goals.
“Their General Staff plans to complete the capture of the Donetsk region by the end of this year,” Skibitsky said.
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate spokesperson, Russia will also continue to launch strikes against Ukraine in the fall and winter. Defense and military facilities, the energy sector, logistics, and gas stations remain at risk. In the winter, the electricity and heating sectors, as well as the gas infrastructure, may prove to be the most vulnerable.
Skibitsky noted that Russia is already using means to strike energy infrastructure. In particular, the Russians have developed a drone designed to damage power poles and power lines.
At the same time, the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) sees no signs that Russia is preparing for a new offensive from the north of Ukraine. Theoretically, such an operation is possible this year, but at the moment there are no necessary troops or corresponding signs of preparation for it.
Intelligence officials do not rule out a new mobilization in Russia after the elections. According to Skibitsky, without it, the Russian command will not be able to form new units, in particular to reorganize existing brigades into divisions.
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), the Russian force fighting against Ukraine consists of approximately 670,000 combat personnel and another 65,000 in the operational reserve. At the same time, in July, the Russian army’s losses totaled at least 40,000 killed and wounded, while approximately 39,000 people signed contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Skibitsky also stated that Ukrainian strikes deep into Russia are affecting the situation in the country. According to him, Ukrainian deep-strike operations have become the second most important issue of concern to the Russian population after the standard of living.
