On the night of August 20–21, 1968, troops from the USSR and other Warsaw Pact countries invaded Czechoslovakia to suppress the reforms of the “Prague Spring.”
During the occupation, 137 Czechs and Slovaks were killed, and about 100,000 people were forced to emigrate.
