Flights To Russia And Turkey Are Being Delayed En Masse At Minsk Airport

The wave of delays occurred that night.

At Minsk National Airport, flights to Russia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates have been delayed; overnight, there was a surge in delays amid drone attacks.

As of the morning of August 30, according to the departure board, flights from Minsk to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Dubai, and Antalya have been delayed.

For example, the overnight Aeroflot flight to Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport has been rescheduled from 2:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and the Flydubai flight to Dubai will depart at 8:30 p.m. instead of 3:40 a.m. “Belavia” has rescheduled its flight to St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport from 4:15 p.m. to 7:40 p.m. and its flight to Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport from 5:40 p.m. to 7:20 p.m.

Earlier that night, the airport experienced a wave of flight reschedulings amid reports of drones entering Russian airspace—the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that approximately 500 drones had been shot down. Rosaviatsiya announced restrictions on the use of airspace at a number of airports.

One of the passengers experienced flight delays at the Minsk airport and said that the flights had been “canceled starting at 2:00 a.m. due to the closure of airspace.”
