Wildberries Warehouses Near Moscow And St. Petersburg Are On Fire

A busy night for the marketplace.

On the morning of August 4, Ukrainian drones attacked the city of Chekhov in the Moscow Region, according to the region’s governor Andrei Vorobyov. “Several fires broke out in the Novoselki industrial zone as a result of a drone strike,” writes The Moscow Times.

“The largest fire was at a warehouse, where the open flames have already been extinguished,” Vorobyov reported on his Telegram channel. He also said that a power substation and an administrative building were damaged. According to preliminary reports, five people were killed and six others were injured. Based on eyewitness footage analyzed by Astra, the Wildberries warehouse in Chekhov was the target of the drone attack.

Drones also carried out a raid on the Leningrad Region. The region’s governor Alexander Drozdenco reported that 17 drones had been destroyed. “There is damage in the Krasny Bor warehouse area. One person was injured. Details are being clarified,” Drozdzenko wrote on his Telegram channel. The Wildberries logistics center was hit, according to the publication “Bumaga,” citing company employee chat logs and eyewitness videos. A major fire broke out at the facility following the strike. The attacked warehouse is the marketplace’s last and largest logistics complex in the Leningrad Region. It covers an area of 154,000 square meters. On July 24, Ukrainian drones attacked two other Wildberries sorting centers in the region: “Utkina Zavod” (18,000 square meters) and “Shushary” (106,000 square meters).

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) began striking Wildberries’ logistics infrastructure on July 18. As of August 2, the total area of the company’s warehouses that had been attacked reached 1.21–1.47 million square meters. According to Data Insight’s calculations, 893,000–1.154 million square meters were damaged, or 17.2–22.2% of the marketplace’s publicly stated 5.2 million square meters of logistics infrastructure. For its part, the publication “Versтка” estimated the area of damaged warehouses at more than 1.5 million square meters, or 27% of the company’s total warehouse space.

In total, at least 20 warehouses were affected, including those in Elektrostal, Krasnodar, Nevinnomyssk, Voronezh, Yekaterinburg, and St. Petersburg. The biggest loss was the 250,000-square-meter facility in Elektrostal, near Moscow, which burned to the ground.
