Russia Struck Kyiv And The Surrounding Region With Its Full Range Of Ballistic Weapons

14 people were killed, and dozens were injured.

On the night of Wednesday, August 5, Russian occupation forces carried out yet another missile attack on the Kyiv region. Kyiv and Brovary were hit by ballistic missiles, and explosions were also heard in the Bila Tserkva area. At least one person was killed and 12 were injured in the capital; there is also one fatality among civilians in the region, and dozens more people were injured, according to OBOZ.UA.

The Ukrainian Air Force began reporting enemy targets at 00:20. Monitoring channels reported launches of Iskander missiles simultaneously with missiles from S-400 systems and North Korean KN-23s. Zircon missiles were also flying toward Kyiv from various directions.

The launches were carried out from the Bryansk, Rostov, and Kursk regions of the Russian Federation.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that air defense forces are operating in the capital. “Kyiv and the region are under ballistic missile attack. More missiles are heading toward the city,” he wrote.

Later, the enemy directed attack drones toward the region.

Consequences of the attack

Klitschko reported that in the Obolon district, a strike hit an area of non-residential buildings. According to preliminary data, an office building was also hit there.

According to the Kyiv City State Administration, warehouse facilities were on fire in the Obolon and Sviatoshyn districts as a result of the enemy attack.

A warehouse building was also on fire in the Desnianskyi district. In addition, missile debris fell near a residential building.

In the Holosiivskyi district, a fire broke out in a single-story warehouse. The building collapsed, and two injured people were pulled from the rubble.

In the same district, a private residential building collapsed; people may be trapped under the rubble. Also in the Holosiivskyi district, an ammonia leak occurred after a tank struck a non-residential building. Rescuers managed to shut off the valves; there is no threat to the public.

One woman died in the capital, and another 22 people were injured. Medical personnel hospitalized three of the injured; one of them is in serious condition.

“At one of the sites, an ambulance was damaged as a result of repeated explosions. The driver was injured,” Klitschko reported.

As of 6:00 a.m., city authorities reported that 24 people were injured in Kyiv following the nighttime attack. Medical personnel hospitalized 15 of the injured; four are in serious condition.

Air quality in Kyiv has deteriorated significantly following the overnight shelling. As of this morning, smoke is visible over the capital, and monitoring services indicate that particulate matter levels in the air have exceeded permissible limits.

Fires in the Obolonskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, and Desnianskyi districts have been contained. Units of the State Emergency Service continue to deal with the aftermath of the shelling.

Kyiv Region

Klitschko reported a major fire in the capital’s suburbs—non-residential premises caught fire in the Kyiv-Sviatoshyn district.

The mayor of Brovary, Ihor Sapozhko, stated that reports of a strike on the “Epicenter” store in the city are untrue.

The head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, Timur Tkachenko, reported that the consequences of the enemy attack have been recorded in the Bucha, Brovary, and Fastiv districts of the region.

The State Emergency Service reported that large-scale fires broke out in the Brovary district at logistics and warehouse complexes, manufacturing facilities, retail establishments, and other sites.

In the Fastiv district, in the village of Kalynivka, a fire broke out at a facility as a result of an enemy strike. In the Bucha district, fires occurred at logistics complexes.

One person was killed as a result of an enemy attack in the Bucha district. Additionally, 21 civilians were injured in the region. Thirteen people were injured in the Brovary district, three in the Fastiv district, and another five were injured in the Bucha district, according to the Regional Military Administration.
