Zelenskyy: Without The Return Of Crimea, There Will Be No Normal Life For Ukrainians

Ukraine intends to liberate the peninsula.

The aggressor country began showing disregard for peace in 2014, when it annexed Crimea. Only the return of the peninsula to Ukraine will ensure security and uphold the principles of international law.

This was reported by Charter97.org, citing a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to participants in the sixth summit of the International Crimean Platform on Telegram.

The president stated that Ukraine is ready to contribute to ensuring peaceful and safe navigation and food security in the Black Sea. However, Russia must also take concrete steps toward de-escalation.

According to the president, Russia must start somewhere—namely, with respect for others.

“Basic respect for the world begins with simple things: food security, energy security, and the right of people to live without fear. Russia must go through these changes,” Zelenskyy is convinced.

He noted that Russia’s disrespect for the world began in 2014, when the aggressor country invaded Ukraine’s Crimea.

“Therefore, a full return to normal life is impossible without Crimea—without restoring security, protecting people and their lives, freeing prisoners held by Russia, and returning to the fundamental principles of international law,” says the President of Ukraine.

In his view, Russia must understand that territorial integrity, state sovereignty, and human lives are important.
