Trump Has Made A Decision On Iran's Latest Peace Proposal

The proposal was conveyed to the American side during indirect negotiations.

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that he rejected Iran’s latest peace proposal, which was conveyed to the U.S. side during indirect talks held this week in New York.

The White House leader’s statement was reported by Axios (translation by “European Truth”).

While Iran wants to focus any talks on the Strait of Hormuz and the U.S. naval blockade, the Trump administration is demanding that the Iranians make concessions on the nuclear issue.

“They (Iran—Ed.) made a proposal, and I rejected it,” Trump said.

Meanwhile, a U.S. official stated that “positive and constructive” discussions are continuing between the U.S. and Iran through intermediaries, as before, particularly on nuclear issues.

Iran proposed opening the Strait of Hormuz and resuming negotiations on its nuclear program in a week if the U.S. lifts the naval blockade, lifts sanctions on oil sales, and restores a ceasefire throughout the region.

According to one source who spoke to Axios, during Tuesday’s talks, U.S. negotiators made it clear to the Iranian side that Iran does not control the strait and therefore cannot make demands regarding it.

Every day, dozens of oil tankers pass through the strait under U.S. protection, delivering millions of barrels of oil to global markets—which, as before, is significantly less than before the war, but enough to ease the pressure somewhat.

U.S. officials state that approximately 60 million barrels of oil have passed through the Strait of Hormuz over the past 72 hours.

Meanwhile, according to The Wall Street Journal, Trump has not only rejected Iran’s peace proposal but also plans to resume bombing the Islamic country after the midterm elections in November.
