Poland Has Offered Ukraine A Secure Site For Patriot Missiles

Warsaw is ready to host the production facility on its territory.
Poland has offered to host a facility for the production of missiles for the Patriot systems on its territory, should a decision be made to establish the necessary production capacity in Ukraine. At the same time, Polish authorities are continuing negotiations with the U.S. on the establishment of a permanent American base designed to accommodate approximately 5,000 military personnel and their families.
This was announced by Poland’s Deputy Minister of National Defense Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarniecka. The information was published by RMF24.
A report on the U.S. military presence in Europe is currently being prepared. The document is to be submitted to U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hagseth on November 1, and to President Donald Trump on December 1.
“Everything indicates that the Americans will not make a decision until the completion of the so-called strategic review ordered by Pete Hagseth,” said Sobkowiak-Charnecka.
She added that once the report is submitted to the U.S. president, Poland can expect a final decision regarding the base.
“It is likely that we can expect a final decision after that date,” the deputy minister stated.
Polish authorities are currently considering two possible locations for a permanent U.S. military base. Both options have already been presented to the U.S. side, which has provided Warsaw with its assessment.
“At the moment, there are two proposals, and negotiations are underway with the Americans. The U.S. side has reviewed the locations we proposed and shared its assessment of them in Washington,” she said.
The official noted that the base will likely be located in western Poland. Among the reasons she cited was the U.S. side’s assessment of the region’s security.
“The Americans consider western Poland to be a safer location,” explained Sobkowiak-Czarniecka.
The choice of a specific location will depend, in particular, on proximity to airports and major urban areas.
Warsaw also plans to draft a special law designed to expedite the base’s construction.
“We need to draft a special law to expedite the base’s construction and define the responsibilities of specific ministries, because building a base is, in essence, building a small town,” stated the deputy head of the Polish Ministry of Defense.
It is expected that the U.S. base could accommodate approximately 5,000 U.S. service members and their families.
Separately, Sobkowiak-Czarniecka spoke about Poland’s negotiations regarding the creation of a maintenance center and the potential production of missiles for Patriot systems.
Warsaw has proposed locating such production in Poland if Ukraine also plans to establish such a facility.
“We suggested that if the construction of such a plant is planned in Ukraine, then we propose building it on Polish territory, in what is known as a ‘safe zone,’” the official said.
At the same time, she emphasized that Poland’s efforts to establish a Patriot maintenance and production center are not contingent on the decision regarding Ukraine.
“Even if such a decision is made regarding Ukraine, it will not change our efforts or negate Poland’s consent,” added Sobkowiak-Charnecka.
