No letters from Zmitser Bandarenka, lawyer has no access to him

20

Lawyers are still not allowed to visit their clients, prisoners of the KGB jail, charged with mass protest rallies participation.

Some of the accused have been released and placed under house arrest, some released on recognizance, and however nothing changes in the situation with the rights of the accused and lawyers in the KGB pre-trial detention centre: there are no room for their meetings, that’s all, “Belarusian partisan” writes.

On February 3 lawyer Tatsyana Stankevich failed to meet with Mikalai Statkevich, and lawyer Iryna Burak have not seen Anatol Lyabedzka. The lawyer has not seen Anatol Lyabedzka since December 29. Lawyers come to the KGB jail routinely, and they are told there: “We have only two rooms for meetings, and they are occupied!”

Tatsyana Stankevich has not seen her client Mikalai Statkevich since the year 2010 – and she failed to meet him today. Although, judging by the letter to his wife Maryna Adamovcih, Mikalai Statkevich is going through a hard period after his 3-week hunger strike. Neither the lawyer, nor his wife, have an answer whether he is alive and healthy.

“Yesterday I received Mikalai’s linen – for the first time in 45 days! And it is a little victory,” Marina Adamovich said.

No wonder: after the rally of solidarity Maryna Adamovich was charged in the court that she had been shouting: “Freedom to Nyaklyaeu and Sannikov!” and holding their portraits. It could have been supposed that Statkevich’s wife would demand release of his husband and hold his portrait. However, Maryna Adamovich did not even challenge the huge fine. She simply said in the court that the policemen who were witnesses in the court, commited perjury…

Volha Bandarenka, a wife of Zmitser Bandarebka, says that she has received only one letter over the one and a half month of her husband’s incarceration in the KGB jail (“Amerikanka”). It was not even a regular letter, but a note. And that’s all – no information about her husband and from her husband since then.

Lawyer Maryna Syamashka have not seen Zmitser Bandarenka since December 29. “Lawyers spent whole days at he KGB jail, but to no avail. And in general, after January 31, when the Council of the European Union imposed visa ban, the situation has started to return on its circuits – no letters, no meetings with lawyers,” Volha Bandarenka stressed.

It is confirmed by Milana Mikhalevich, Ales Mikhalevich’s wife: after December 31 she received no news from her husband, as well as other prisoners’ families.

It seems to be the answer of the official Minsk to the sanctions of the European Union.
