Uss came to hear his verdict with a bag

The former presidential candidate said the charges with organizing mass riot against him were “terrible” and “unfair”.

As BelaPAN reports, presidential candidate Dzmitry Uss came to the Leninski district court on May 20 with his belongings in a bag.

The court was expected to announce verdicts today to Mikalai Statkevich, Dzmitry Uss, Andrei Paznyak, Alyaksandr Klaskouski, Alyaksandr Kvyatkevich, Artsyom Hrybkou, and Dzmitry Bulanau. The trial was postponed sine die, because judge Lyudmila Hrachova has been taken ill.

We remind that prosecutor Kiryl Chubkavets asked to sentence Uss to seven years in a medium security penal colony. If the court takes this decision, Uss will be taken into custody in the courtroom.

Unlike other defendants, who wore costumes, Uss appeared in jeans and a T-short in the court. One of his friends carried a big bag full of personal belongings. Uss did not know that delivering a verdict was postponed.

He told journalist he bought food for prison that morning. Uss is convinced that Belarus will soon see changes and everyone feels it. According to the candidate, “the regime cannot exist in this form” in this economic, political, and ideological situation.

According to Uss, the system fights against him, because he has begun to fight against the authorities. Uss does not believe he can be acquitted. “They will not leave in freedom,” he is convicned.

The candidate said the charges with organizing mass disorders against him were “terrible” and “unfair”.

Alyaksandr Kasulin, 2006 presidential candidate, came to the court. He noted to journalists: “Judge can fall ill only by an order. If the judge is taken ill all of a sudden, she received the order.”
